Save Your Cell Phone From Water Damage
Save Your Cell Phone From Water Damage:
Recent studies show that over thirty percent of people have accidentally gotten their phone wet or dropped it in water at some point in time. If this happens to you, don't panic. You may be able to save your cell phone by following these simple steps:
Get it out of the water as soon as possible. The more time it spends submerged in water, the greater the chances are that permanent damage will occur.
Remove the battery if at all possible (not possible on an iPhone).
If you can access your SIM card, remove it immediately as well. The data on that SIM card is oftentimes more valuable than the cellphone!
Dry your phone with an absorbent towel or cloth and wipe and carefully wipe down any open ports. Very carefully--you don't want to leave any trace threads inside any slots.
Place your phone in a plastic bag or bowl partially filled with uncooked rice. The rice will draw the moisture out from tiny crevices in the phone.
After several more hours, test your phone to see if it works.
These tips have saved many cell phones from watery ruin--we hope it works for you, too!
